Inquiry

What would happen if:

  You have three security guards
One is on tour (patrol duty)
The two elderly guards at the guardhouse see black smoke billowing out of a 10th floor kitchen window

Abiding by standard procedure, you must:
You must call the Fire Department
Evacuate the residents two floors above and two floors below

According to Federal Emergency Management Agency, US (FEMA) in just two minutes a fire can become life-threatening and in five minutes a residence can be engulfed.

CAN YOU EVACUATE THE RESIDENTS ON TIME?

With the INTERACTIVE VIDEO INTERCOM & ALERT SYSTEM (IVIAS), your guard can broadcast an EVACUATE NOW! message to the affected floors saving precious time climbing staircases and going from door to door.  By evacuating only the affected floors, there is less traffic in the fire exits this makes evacuation faster and minimizes the chances of a stampede.

Emergency Message Broadcast is a standard feature in IVIAS!

According to the SCDF 48 Private Condo Fires occurred between January and June 2006.

Recent Apartment (including HDB) fires reported on Stomp:

21 Oct 2006 – The Anchorage, 9th Floor

23 Oct 2006 – Marine Crescent, 4th Floor

19 Nov 2006 – Owen Road Apartment Fire, 8th Floor

29 Nov 2006 -- Choa Chu Kang North, 2nd Floor

Many people have grown complacent and tend to ignore fire alarms. Emergency Message Broadcasting saves lives.

Our Interactive Video Intercom & Alert System features includes:

·        Resident Terminal (RT) with 7 inch TFT colour screen (most vendors use 4 or 5” screens).

·        Hands-free audio communication – hit the button with your elbow if your hands are occupied.

·        Two-way audio between residents and visitors/Security Guard.

·        One-way video from residents to visitors/Security Guard, residents can view visitors at the lobby terminal or the Guardhouse but not vice versa.

·        Lobby Terminal with Touch Screen LCD:

o       For visitors to communicate with residents

o       Includes a camera to show the resident who is at the lobby.

o       The visitor selects in the required floor and unit number on the Touch Screen.

o       Also facilitates communication between lobby and security guard.

Security Guard Terminal:

o       Emergency Message Broadcast!

o       Allows the Security Guard to call the Resident Terminal to verify whether to allow the visitor/contractor access.

o       Facilitates direct communication between the Resident and Security Guard – useful for leaving instructions with the Security Guard or to call for assistance in the event of a domestic emergency.

Optional:

Wireless Emergency Call Pendants/Wrist Bands

o       Activates the call Security Guardhouse button remotely.

o       Useful for the domestic emergencies e.g. in the event that an elderly person living alone falls he/she can summon for help.

Other ideas:

Placing additional Resident Terminals (RT) for Security Guards to use as a tour station i.e. the Security Guard doing the patrol must call back using the RT at the appointed time.  Residents can also use this terminal to communicate with Guardhouse personnel.

Placing additional Lobby Terminals to facilitate communication from the poolside to the residence.
