Inquiry

What would happen if:
| |
You have three security guards |
| |
One is on tour (patrol duty) |
| |
The two elderly guards at the guardhouse see black smoke
billowing out of a 10th floor kitchen window |
| |
|
|
Abiding by
standard procedure, you must: |
| |
You must call the Fire Department |
| |
Evacuate the residents two floors above and two floors below |
|
According to
Federal Emergency Management Agency, US (FEMA)
in just two minutes a fire can become life-threatening and in
five minutes a residence can be engulfed.
CAN
YOU EVACUATE THE RESIDENTS ON TIME?
With the INTERACTIVE VIDEO INTERCOM & ALERT SYSTEM
(IVIAS), your guard can
broadcast an EVACUATE NOW! message to
the affected floors saving precious time climbing staircases and going
from door to door. By evacuating only the affected floors, there is
less traffic in the fire exits this makes evacuation faster and
minimizes the chances of a stampede.
Emergency
Message Broadcast is a standard feature in
IVIAS!
According to the SCDF 48 Private Condo Fires occurred between January
and June 2006.
Recent Apartment (including HDB) fires reported on Stomp:
21
Oct 2006 – The Anchorage, 9th Floor
23
Oct 2006 – Marine Crescent, 4th Floor
19
Nov 2006 – Owen Road Apartment Fire, 8th Floor
29
Nov 2006 --

Many people have
grown complacent and tend to ignore fire alarms. Emergency Message
Broadcasting saves lives.

using the RT at the appointed time. Residents can also use this
terminal to communicate with Guardhouse personnel.
Placing additional Lobby Terminals to facilitate communication from the
poolside to the residence.
